Psychological Services

Psychological Services / Counselling and Therapy in Perth, WA . I also provide psychometric testing and assessment.

Work-related Mental Health Concerns • Assess / Manage disorders • Personal Growth & Well-Being • Psychometric / Personality Testing • Psychoeducation & Skills Training

At every consultation, I address presenting issues in depth, when necessary. However, for most individuals, long-term success depends on the ability to bring about change and achieve goals. With that as a priority, I generally place a strong importance on psycho-education and skills training, which maximises the likelihood of positive, long-lasting outcomes. Additionally, I might make use of other modalities when appropriate, with the aim being to provide a tailored, holistic approach as everyone responds differently, depending on their personality, presenting issues and goals etc. Overall, I strive to be highly flexible and do my best to find an approach with works for you. I welcome all feedback and strongly encourage you to ask me any questions that you might have during our sessions.

What to expect in your first session

I aim to build a collaborative and secure environment, free of judgement or ignorance, where we can work together to help address your difficulties. I usually provide therapy and counselling in my Fremantle practice but I can travel to you if necessary (a small surcharge may apply). If you wish to get a medicare rebate, you will need a valid referral addressed to me by your GP or specialist and you MUST bring this referral document with you to your session. If you need help getting a referral you can get in touch with me and I’ll be happy to guide you along.

In your first session, you will spend about 5-10 minutes reading and filling out consent/intake forms as well as a privacy information sheet. During this time, I encourage you to ask me as many questions as you want about anything that might be on your mind. In the first couple of sessions, you will generally be doing most of the talking and I will usually be taking a lot more notes (while still giving you my full attention). Where applicable, we will usually come up with a treatment plan at the end of either the first or second session. I might also ask you to complete a short psychological test (e.g. DASS-21, JSS, BDI-II) at the end of each session to give us both an idea of your progress. In certain cases, I will ask you to fill out an additional short session rating instrument for the same reason.

During the first few sessions, I encourage you to pay attention to how you feel during and after each session to decide if my approach is a good match for you. If you feel that it’s not really going well, please do not hesitate to let me know and I can assist you in getting a referral to someone who might be a better fit.
